Nick Allegretti '06
Men’s Lacrosse
Hall of Fame Class of 2013
Since the inaugural Bryant lacrosse season in 2000, the Bulldogs have produced several outstanding players who have helped build a strong foundation for success over the years -- many of whom have led the country in any number of offensive categories. But there is one player whose greatness came more quietly -- on a stat sheet, at least. No player has had a bigger impact on the defensive side for Bryant lacrosse than Nick Allegretti. In fact, few have made the lasting impressions on any program as he did from 2001-04.
A native of Penfield, N.Y., Allegretti enrolled at Johns Hopkins but transferred to Bryant as a second-semester freshman, in time to help build the Bulldogs into an immediate power in the Northeast-10 Conference. Allegretti started all 16 games as a freshman in 2001 and anchored a defensive unit that was ranked in the top-5 nationally for goals allowed.
Named the New England Rookie of the Year, his entire career continued with the same success, and he was recognized year-in and year-out by coaches across the country for his outstanding play. Allegretti earned STX/USILA All-America recognition an incredible four times during his career, including three first-team honors.
A four-time All-New England selection as well, Allegretti played in 65 career games at Bryant. Allegretti becomes the third men’s lacrosse player inducted into the Bryant Athletics Hall of Fame, joining former teammates Kevin Barletta and Jon Yuengling.
