Michelle Lewis '05
Field Hockey & Women's Lacrosse
Hall of Fame Class of 2013

A standout in both field hockey and women’s lacrosse from 2001-05, Michelle Lewis was not only successful on the playing field, but in the classroom as well.  On the field, Lewis was an outstanding defensive player for the Bulldog field hockey team in the fall and returned to the backline in the spring to help lead the women’s lacrosse team.

Out of uniform, she was a Presidential Scholar recipient and CoSIDA Academic All-American. She made Dean’s List all eight semesters and was selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic All-America team during her senior season. As a member of the Bulldog field hockey team, Lewis helped anchor a defensive unit that led Bryant to a pair of NCAA Final Four berths in 2002 and 2003. For her efforts, Lewis received All-America honors from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Her four defensive saves in 2003 ties for third all-time in single season program history, while she is also one of just 10 players to start in 22 career games. On the lacrosse field, Lewis was just as dominant. She led another exceptional defensive unit and was recognized with First Team All-Northeast-10 accolades, as well as a second team all-region distinction.

As a sophomore, Lewis earned Second Team All-America honors and earned First Team All-NE-10 recognition, in addition to being named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year. Lewis is still the program’s all-time leader in caused turnovers (146) and sits second in the career rankings in both ground balls (214) and games played (68).
