Chris Congdon '92
Men’s Golf
Hall of Fame Class of 2004

From the moment Chris Congdon stepped onto campus, Congdon quickly established himself as one of the top players in the region. During his career, he had three top-ten finishes and was consistently one of the top scorers on the team. In 1990, Congdon helped to lead Bryant to the ECAC Championship with a third-place finish individually as Bryant captured the title of one of the largest collegiate golf tournaments in the United States with over 19 teams competing, representing all Divisions. Bryant would conclude the season with a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships. In 1991, the Bryant golf program continued its winning ways.

Whether it was a tournament at Oak Hill, where Bryant took first behind Congdon’s two-day total of 149, or the seventh Cypress Links in Jupiter, Florida where Congdon placed 14th overall individually. Competing against some of the top Division I schools at the Yale Invitational, Congdon earned a top-20 finish in leading Bryant to a ninth-place finish overall and ahead of programs from URI, Providence, and Boston College to name a few.

In addition to earning three All-Northeast-10 Conference honors, Congdon was also named All-American three times by the NCAA and would also qualify for two U.S. Amateur Golf Championships. Today he is as successful competitor on the New England Mini-Tour. Once again, carrying on the legacy that has become Bryant golf.
