Jim was the first of what has become a long line of Bryant College All-America golfers. In both 1975 and 1976, he was named to the National Golf Coaches Association Division II All-America team.

In 1975, he earned honorable mention selection and, in 1976, he was named as one of the seven members of the first team. His 1976 selection came after he finished among the top 10 at the national NCAA tournament. He is one of only four Bryant athletes who had earned at least two All-America selections during their careers, as of 1988.
