BOSTON - Bryant field hockey graduate student Valentina Funes was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday morning.

The honor comes on the heels of a historic weekend in which Funes scored five goals, including four on Sunday, in a 2-0 week for the Black and Gold.

Funes opened the weekend with the second goal in Bryant's eventual 4-1 win over Boston U. It marked the Bulldogs' first-ever win over the Terriers. Funes followed that up by scoring all four goals and tying the single-game program record in a 4-0 victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday. All four goals came on penalty corners. 

The Buenos Aires, Argentina native is now tied for the league lead in goals (6), first in points (13) and first in shots (42) and shots on goal (24).

Bryant has 11 days off before it opens America East play at UMass Lowell on October 2.
