PICARD SCORES TWICE, BRYANT DOWNS STONEHILL, 3-1, ON FRIDAY

SMITHFIELD, R.I.  – Sophomore Ellie Picard scored the first two goals of her collegiate career to lift the Bryant field hockey team to a 3-1 victory over Stonehill on Friday afternoon at Cowen Field.

With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 3-2 on the season. Bryant closes out the weekend on Sunday at Holy Cross (11:00 a.m.).

Bryant led 1-0 for a majority of the contest before Picard scored twice in a three-minute span to make it 3-0 in the third quarter.

Key Moment
  • Claire Joss scored her first goal of the season with 8:30 left in the first quarter to give Bryant a lead it would not relinquish.
First Quarter
  • Bryant controlled the opening 15 minutes, posting six shots and collecting three penalty corners.
  • Joss broke the ice with 8:30 left on a penalty corner. Julie Diderich inserted directly to Joss and she fired it home.
