Box Score WORCESTER, Mass. – The Bryant field hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to Holy Cross on a rainy Sunday morning in Worcester.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 3-3 on the season. Bryant returns to Cowen Field this week to take on Boston U (Sept. 18) and Sacred Heart (Sept. 20).
The Crusaders scored twice in the first quarter and then held off a late charge from the Black and Gold.
Maddy DeFilippo's third goal of the year made it a one-goal game but the Crusaders iced it with a empty-cage goal in the waning seconds.

Second Quarter
- The Black and Gold controlled the second quarter but couldn't find the back of the cage.
- Bryant held Holy Cross without a shot and earned a pair of penalty corners.
- The Bulldogs had a great chance with under a minute to play but the Crusaders were able to deny the attempt from Valentina Funes.
Third Quarter
- Bryant dominated possession, once again, in the third quarter but had nothing to show for it.

Fourth Quarter
- The Bulldogs finally broke through just over a minute into the fourth quarter. Bryant forced a turnover and Ellie Picard rifled a ball into the circle and onto the stick of DeFilippo. DeFilippo's first shot was denied but she knocked home the rebound for her third goal of the year.
- Bryant continued to put pressure but the Crusaders were able to withstand. Holy Cross would eventually make it 3-1 on an empty-cage goal with eight seconds remaining.

- Bryant is now 7-8 all-time against Holy Cross. The Bulldogs have dropped the last three meetings.
