SMITHFIELD, R.I. –
Callie Caito scored twice to lift the Bryant field hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Boston U on Friday afternoon at Cowen Field.
With their first-ever win over the Terriers, the Bulldogs improve to 4-3 on the season. Bryant will host Sacred Heart on Sunday (Sept. 20) for Alumni Day.
Held scoreless in two previous meetings with the Terriers, Bryant erupted for three first-half goals on Friday. Caito paced the offense as she collected her second multi-goal game of the season.
Valentina Funes added her second of the season and
Jordi Higgins scored the first of her collegiate career.

- Bryant scored four minutes apart in the second quarter to open up a 3-0 lead.
First Quarter
- Bryant dominated the opening 15 minutes, collecting six penalty corners and posting eight shots.
- The Bulldogs finally broke through seven minutes in as Caito took the insert and stick handled her way around two defenders before hammering a reverse into the back of the cage.
Second Quarter
- Bryant continued to put the pressure on in the second quarter, scoring twice in a four-minute span to make it 3-0.
- The first goal came on the heels of a series of penalty corners. Emerson Johnson inserted to Elsa Bishop and Funes stepped into her shot and hit the back board for her second of the season.
- Moments later, Higgins collected a loose ball in the circle and spun around while shooting and her shot found the perfect angle inside the far post.
Third Quarter
- Boston was able to get on the board with just over four minutes remaining in the third quarter. Tiger Fellner settled the ball in the circle and Maddie Hudson tipped home her shot.
- Bryant quickly answered, earning a restart at the 23 meter. Kerin Birch restarted play and slid a pass to Caito who worked her way through two defenders before slotting home her second goal of the game.
Fourth Quarter
- The teams played to a stalemate in the fourth quarter as both goalies made one save.

- Bryant improves to 1-2 all-time against Boston U. The Bulldogs had been outscored 7-0 in two previous meetings, including 4-0 last season.
- Bryant has matched its win total from the 2025 season.
