BOSTON -- Bryant baseball junior
Casey Wensley was named the America East Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Wensley picks up his second weekly honor after an incredible weekend in Bryant's America East series victory against NJIT. The Raynham, Mass., native went 10-for-15 with three doubles, five RBI and eight runs scored in the three games.Â
After being held hitless in Bryant's midweek win at URI, Wensley collected four hits in the series opener with NJIT on Friday. On Sunday, Wensley went 6-for-9 with three RBI and five runs scored in Bryant's doubleheader sweep of the Highlanders. He posted two hits and scored the eventual game-winning run in the first game and then added four hits and three RBI in game two. Wensley's fourth hit of the game, a two-run single in the eighth, ignited Bryant's eight-run rally to earn the series win.
Wensley has now collected multiple hits in nine of his last 10 games, going 24-for-44 with nine doubles, 11 RBI and 19 runs scored in the span. He leads the America East in average (.412), hits (42), runs scored (36) and stolen bases (13).
