Key Moment
- Breckin Nace (1-2) and Eli Hudgins (0-2) were down to their final strikes before working two-out walks to load the bases in the ninth.
How it Happened
- Radford plated the first runs of the game with a two-out rally in the first. After the first two batters were retired, a walk and a HBP on an 0-2 pitch extended the inning. Powell made it hurt, slashing a double inside the first base bag to drive in both runs.
- Bryant cut the deficit in half with a two-out run of its own in the third. Gaudreau singled, moved to second on a sac bunt and scored as Gavin Greger's hard ground ball down the first base line went into the right field corner.
- Radford extended its lead to 3-1 with an RBI double in the bottom of the third. Kaden Hilburger induced two fly outs to strand two runners.
- In the top of the fourth, Mike Fiatarone picked up a two-out single and came around to score as Gaudreau snuck a single back through the middle (2-3).
- Bryant tied the game in the sixth as Wensley opened the inning with a triple to left center. Radford's Daniel Quintana struck out the next two batters before uncorking a wild pitch to plate Wensley with two outs. It was the first run Quintana had allowed in 11.2 innings of relief.
- The Black and Gold then took their first lead of the game in the seventh. Zac Zyons reached on an infield error, stole second, went to third on a ground out and scored on a ground out by Ellis Garcia.
- White entered with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and proceeded to strikeout the batter to end the inning and then fanned two more in a 1-2-3 eighth.
- In the ninth, a leadoff single for the Highlanders ended up on second after a failed pickoff. White, however, rebounded to strikeout the next two batters. He then had Nace in a 1-2 hole before issuing a walk. Justin Dressler was summoned and got ahead 0-2 before Hudgins worked a walk to load the bases. Powell was then hit by a pitch to score the tying run and Whitacre worked back from down 0-2 to knock a 2-2 pitch into center to win it.
