Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Bryant University softball team defeated Monmouth 3-2 in the first game of the Carolina Classic behind Maddy Wachter's complete game, where she struck out three and held the Hawks to two hits.
 
Carley Genzer hit her first career home run in the 8-1 defeat against UNC.

• The Hawks cut the lead to one with two outs in the sixth inning, and then Wachter got the next four batters out to secure the 3-2 victory.

How it Happened (GM1)

• Arianna Williams drew a one-out walk and then stole second base, which led to a Jaelynn Lee RBI-single to left field (1-0). On the next at-bat, Gabriella Gesualdo laid down a sacrifice bunt to extend the lead to 2-0. The Bulldogs scored their third run on a double-steal in the top of the third inning (3-0).
• In the bottom of the sixth with two outs. Monmouth hit a two-run home run to center field (3-2).

• Genzer hit a leadoff solo home run over the left field wall in the top of the 4^th inning to cut the UNC lead to one (2-1).
• The Tar Heels scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning off a single, a sacrifice fly, and a Bulldog error (6-1).
• In the bottom of the sixth inning, UNC hit a two-run HR (8-1).
