CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Bryant University softball team will play its second tournament of the season as they make the trip to North Carolina to participate in the Carolina Classic hosted by the University of North Carolina.
The Bulldogs will face Monmouth to begin the tournament at 1:30 pm on Friday, followed by a game against host UNC at 4:00 pm. The next day will feature games against Northern Kentucky at 10:00 am and UNC at 3:00 pm. The Black and Gold will play their final tournament game on Sunday at 9:00 am against NKU.

Series History

Bulldogs Notes and Notables
- Gabriella Gesualdo tallied four hits last weekend and is hitting .333 with an OPS of .968, both of which top the team. Gesualdo went 3-4 from the plate with three RBI and knocked her first career home run in the victory over ACU.
- Jaelynn Lee is tied with Gesualdo at four hits. Lee tallied a hit in each of the first four games of the Aggie Classic.
- Freshman Teagan Thompson and Alissa West had significant debuts, with Thompson going 3-3 with two RBI against the Wildcats and West knocking a home run in her first career collegiate at-bat versus Utah State.
- Brooke Tracy went 1-0 last weekend, and shined against ACU, throwing her third career complete-game and holding the Wildcats to one run and three hits.
- Assistant coach Katherine Rodriguez returns to her alma mater, UNC, this weekend. The former Tar Heel earned first-team All-America, All-East Region, and All-ACC honors last season after tallying 76 hits, 82 RBI, and a .437 batting average.
Scouting the Competition
- Monmouth heads into the tournament with a 1-4 record. The Hawks have four players hitting .300 or above. Tessa Thompson (.300), Kaitlynn Place (.333), Kylee McLain (.438), and Mackenzie Bloss (.538).
- Northern Kentucky heads into the weekend with a 3-1 record. The Vikings defeated Alabama State, Lindenwood, and Southern Indiana at the Stinger Classic last weekend. Brooke Kelther and Emma Gin lead the team with five RBI each and are two of seven players hitting above .300.
- Host UNC is 3-0 before the tournament. The Tar Heels have scored 30 runs in three games and have had an average margin of victory of 7.6 runs per game. Shelby Barbee leads the team in batting average (.714), hits (5), home runs (2), and slugging percentage (1.714).
