Rohwer and Coleman earn preseason honors, Bulldogs selected third

BOSTON, MASS. - The league announced Tuesday afternoon that Makenna Coleman and Sam Rohwer of the Bryant University softball team were selected to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team.

In addition, the Bulldogs were selected third in the coach's preseason poll. Defending champion UAlbany was selected first, receiving three first-place votes; Binghamton was selected second, earning two first-place votes, followed by the Bulldogs. Then, a tie for fourth between UMass Lowell and UMBC, with the River Hawks receiving a first-place vote, and Maine was selected sixth.

Coleman is coming off a great season where she was named the AE Rookie of the Year, First Team, and the Rookie Team. Coleman tallied 41 hits, eight doubles, four triples, six home runs, 25 RBI, and a batting average of .347. Recorded 12 multi-hit games and went on a 13-game hitting streak from Apr. 13 - 21, the longest by a freshman in DI program history. In AE play, Coleman hit .400, posting 16 RBI, three HRs, and 11 XBH. She was also named to the AE All-Tournament team.

Rohwer was named to the AE First-Team and Rookie Team after recording 34 hits, five doubles, seven HRs, 29 RBI, and a slugging percentage of .469. She had eight multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games.

The Black and Gold are coming off a great season, during which head coach Bianka Bell was named the Co-Coach of the Year. The team set a DI program record for wins with 34 and tied the regular season record of 32 wins. The team also set the DI program record for home wins with 15 and won six of their seven America East series, including two sweeps.

The Bulldogs begin the 2025 season at the Bearkat Classic on February 7th, where they will face Tulsa and Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
