BRYANT MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO COLUMBIA 2-1 IN OVERTIME
WEDNESDAY
Bulldogs Host New Hampshire Saturday at 3
pm
BOXSCORE
NEW YORK - The Bryant University men's soccer took an early lead
just 15 minutes into Wednesday's non-conference encounter at
Columbia, but the Bulldogs couldn't hold on as the host Lions used
a pair of goals by Bayo Adafin to pull out a 2-1 overtime win over
the Bulldogs.
Bryant (2-5) went in front 1-0 in the 15th minute thanks to a
goal by senior Matthew Brown (South Easton, MA) after taking a pass
from junior midfielder Erik Lekstrom and beating the Lions keeper
Alexander Aurrichio.
The score would remain the same but Columbia, which out-shot
Bryant 11 to 1 in the second half (17 to 5 in the game) finally
evened the score with Adafin's first of the game in the 81st minute
on a free kick just inside the far post and past the dive of Bryant
keeper Matt Miscione (Ashburn, VA).
The Bulldogs had three corner kick attempts in the final eight
minutes but could not get off a shot. In overtime, Adafin
took a pass from Steven Keker down the right side and tucked the
winner inside the far post 2:33 into the extra period.
Miscione finished with five saves for the Bulldogs who will
host the University of New Hampshire this Saturday at 3 p.m.
