MEN'S SOCCER TIES COLGATE, 1-1

Rodriguez scores his second goal of the season

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant men's soccer team battled Colgate University to a 1-1 tie on Sunday, September 6 at the World Cup Grass Field on campus in Smithfield, Rhode Island.

Bryant controlled the first half, out shooting Colgate, 10-1, over the first 45 minutes, but could not find the breakthrough.

In the 46th minute, sophomore Ilay Krespi sent a ball forward that Brady Geho flicked forward with his head to Fermin Rodriguez. Rodriguez faked once, then scored with a shot into the bottom right corner.

After Colgate equalized in the 77th minute, the Bulldogs pressed to try to find a winner. Bryant would hit the woodwork four different times over the final ten minutes, but goalkeeper Gavin Vichengrad's eight second-half saves were enough to preserve the tie.
