Enos, who picked up a pair of wins on Day 1 of the
NE-10 Tournament Saturday, is 17-5 on the season with a 1.19 ERA.
Enos has set career highs in wins (17), shutouts (8), saves (3),
strikeouts (129), ERA (1.19), opponents' batting average (.183).
"This award is the culmination of a great career at
Bryant," said Bryant Head Coach Lisa-Ann Wallace.
"We're so proud of Janine, and excited that she has been honored as
the best pitcher in our league by the coaches."
The win marks the fourth straight year Bryant has taken
home a significant individual honor. Deirdre Kitteredge (2005),
Jordan Dargon (2006), and Amanda Wilbur (2007) took home the Player
of the Year honors the last three years. Enos is the first Bulldog
to be named Northeast-10 Pitcher of the Year.
In addition to career highs, Enos has rewritten the
Bulldog career record books this year. Her 52 career wins are best
in school history, as is her 423 strikeouts. Enos also tossed her
first career no-hitter against UMass-Lowell on April 17. She has
been honored as Conference Pitcher of the Week twice this year.
In addition to Player of the Year, Enos was also named to
the NE-10 All-Conference First Team. Joining her on the
All-Conference team is Bulldog outfielder Kate Thomas
(Bedford, NH), who garnered third team honors. The junior
is batting .327 with 2 HR and a team-high 24 RBI. Her six triples
this year have matched a Bulldog single season record.
It marks the second time that Thomas has been an
All-Conference selection. In her freshman year of 2006, Thomas was
honored as a third-team selection when she hit .268 with 4 HR and
21 RBI.
Sara Reed of Le Moyne won the year's Player of the Year
Award, Assumption's Marissa Palumbo was named Freshman of the Year
and Michele DiGregorio of Bentley was selected Coach of the Year.
