Dolphins Seize Northeast-10
Conference Lead With Sweep of Bulldogs in Syracuse
April 20,
2008 Game 1 Box / Game 2 Box
Syracuse, NY - Perennial Bulldog
nemesis Le Moyne jumped out to a quick lead on Bryant and never let
up as the Dolphins took two crucial games and seized control of the
Northeast-10 with less than two weeks to go in the season.
The Dolphins got to Janine
Enos (Wareham, Mass.) for three runs in the bottom of the
first highlighted by a two-run Emma Murphy home run. The Bulldogs
would fight back in the top of the second behind a 2-run
Kim Breton (Leominster, Mass.) single to score
Ali Chouinard (Swansea, Mass.) and Anne
Dobmeier (Buffalo, NY).
However, that was all that Le Moyne
starter Caylinn Cristopherson and reliever Jennifer Farrelly would
allow. Christopherson (7-3) allowed four hits in four innings
before being relieved by Farrelly after a Regi Burdo
(Wayne, PA) single led off the fifth inning. Farrelly shut
down the Bulldogs to earn the save, striking out four in three
innings and allowing just one hit.
Breton would finish the game 2 for 3
and was the only Bulldog with more than one hit. Enos (12-4) took
her first loss since being beaten by 1-0 by #13 C.W. Post on May
30.
Bryant broke through first on Dolphin
starter Jenna Vanacore in game two when Chouinard came home on an
error by catcher Kimberlee Baker in the top of the third. But the
Dolphins jumped out for four on starter Samantha Houseal
(Mount Joy, PA) in the bottom of the frame and never
looked back.
The Bulldogs would push one more run
across inthe fourth when Ashley Coon (Levittown,
PA) knocked in Dobmeier with the team's second run, but Le
Moyne answered with two more in the fourth, another run in the
fifth and two more in the sixth to cruise to the 9-2 win.
Stephanie Mirando (North
Haven, CT) was the only Bulldog with more than one hit in
game two, finishing 2 for 4 in the #2 spot in the order. Houseal
(8-6)
The Bulldogs return to action looking
to end their three-game skid this Tuesday, April 22 with a
doubleheader versus St. Anselm at 3pm.
