SMITHFIELD, RI – Shannon Kirwan and Lauren Moore
each scored 17 points and Erica Kirwan recorded a double-double
with 10 points and equaled a career-high with 10 rebounds in
leading the Bentley College Falcons to a 70-61 win over Bryant
University in Northeast-10 Conference action Saturday at the Chace
Athletic Center.
Leading 14-13 midway through the first half, Bentley
(17-12, 13-8 NE-10) would close out the first half with a 20-4 run
to take a 34-19 lead into the locker room at the break. The Falcons
shot a blistering 52 percent from the floor in the first half and
drained four 3-pointers. Bryant, shot just 24 percent (7 for
29) in the first, but came back strong in the second
half.
The Bulldogs pulled to within 10 twice,
thanks to a pair of Erin Murphy three-pointers. After a
Lauren Rubenoff bucket in the paint, Shannon Perry scored on strong
drive in the lane to pull to within 54-46 with 7:01 left.
A Lauren Glenney three from the left side
with 4:02 left pulled Bryant to within 59-53, but that would be as
close as the Bulldogs would get as Shannon Kirwan and Moore would
hit a pair of free throws in the final minute to help seal the
victory.
Perry led all scorers with 24 points and
13 rebounds while Joanna Skiba added 13 and had four steals.
Murphy finished with 11 and had six boards as Bryant shot 37.3
percent from the floor in the game.
