Bulldogs get stung by #13 AIC Yellow Jackets

Smithfield, RI - The Bryant University women's basketball team welcomed the 13th ranked American International Yellow Jackets to the Chace Athletic Center on Monday evening for a Northeast-10 conference tilt. The Bulldogs fell to the Yellow Jackets 58-51. AIC improves to 13-2 overall and 8-2 in the NE-10. Bryant drops to 7-9 overall and 2-9 in conference play.

The Bulldogs jumped on top of AIC early starting the game on an 8-0 run and holding the Yellow Jackets scoreless for the first five minutes. Bryant led the entire first half and took a 25-19 lead into the locker room. They held AIC to 18% (6-33) shooting in the first half.

The second half was a different story as the Yellow Jackets came out on a 12-5 run to take their first lead of the game with 15 minutes left to go. It would be a back and forth battle for most of the second half until AIC took an eight point lead with just over five minutes to play. They would not look back from their and would end the game hitting six consecutive free throws to close the door on the Bulldogs.

Shannon Perry (Providence, RI) led the way for the Bulldogs putting in her eighth consecutive double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Junior Joanna Skiba (Providence, RI) was the only other Bulldog in double figures with 12. Junior Lauren Rubenoff (New Hartford, CT) had a solid game for Bryant scoring nine points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

Senior forward Sharmion Selman (Burlington, VT) led the Yellow Jackets with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Junior Krystal Pressley (New Haven, CT) was also in double figures with 14 points with all four of her baskets coming from beyond the arc.

Bryant University will host Saint Rose on Saturday with a tip time of 1:30pm.
