SOFTBALL ADVANCES TO CONFERENCE TITLE GAME
SYRACUSE, NY – The Bryant University softball team
advanced to the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament Final after
beating Saint Michael's College 1-0 in the winner's
bracket final played today. Earlier Saturday, the Bulldogs
knocked off UMass Lowell by the same score of 1-0.
Bryant's record now stands at 28-15 overall, equalling the
school record for wins in a season held by the 1993 team. Bryant
will play the winner of Sunday's elimination game between Saint
Michael's and top-seeded Le Moyne which starts at 10
a.m. Bryant needs just one more win in two possible games to
capture the title.
Against Saint Michael's, Bryant scored its only run in the
second inning when Jordan Dargon (right), hit a
leadoff double. Diane Cummings would follow with
an RBI single, scoring Dargon.
Once again defense played a big role in the win for the
Bulldogs. Dargon played well behind plate, and helped
keep the Purple Knights off the scoreboard with two outstanding
catches.
Dargon finished the game a perfect 2-for-2 offenseively with a
double and the only run scored.
Cummings got the win for Bryant going seven innings, allowing
four hits, and striking out two. Meggan Roberge was the hard luck
loser allowing one run, on two hits, and striking out six.
