Muise’s RBI Single in Seventh Leads Bryant to Split

SMITHFIELD, RI – Carly Muise (Hanson, Mass.) hit an RBI-single in the bottom of seventh to lead the Bryant University softball to team to a 5-4 victory over Adelphi University in game two of a double-header played today at the Bryant Softball Complex. The Bulldogs dropped the opener 7-4.

Muise's hit capped a comeback that saw Bryant (7-7, 4-0 NE-10) come back from a 4-0 deficit. Adelphi (8-8, 6-2 NYCAC) took an early 4-0 lead after three innings. The Bulldogs would chip away at the Panther lead by scoring a run in the fifth and added two more in the sixth before tacking on a pair of runs in the seventh to earn the win.

In the opener, Bryant would build a 2-0 lead before the Panthers pounded out five runs in the sixth inning to take home the win.

Samantha Tilton got the win in game for Adelphi going 6 1/3 innings allowing four runs on 11 hits and striking out three. Nikki Ingalls (Westford, Mass.) took the loss for Bryant.

Janine Enos (Wareham, Mass.) got the win in game two for the Bulldogs going seven innings allowing four runs on 12 hits and striking out three. Carla Buonviaggio took the loss for the Panthers.  

Bryant was led by Deidre Kittredge (Worcester, Mass) who went 4-for-5 with a double.  Muise was 3-for-6 at the plate with a double. Holly McCarthy (Framingham, Mass.) homered for the Bulldogs. 

Bryant will return to action tomorrow when they host American International at 3:00PM.
