Softball Splits on Senior Day with Le Moyne

SMITHFIELD, RI – The Bryant University softball team split with Northeast-10 Conference foe Le Moyne winning game one 5-1 and dropping game two 8-3 in 10 innings in a Senior Day doubleheader played today at Bryant.

Game one saw Bryant (20-12, 17-3 NE-10) use a pair of two run innings to secure the win. In the second Bryant would score two runs when Carly Muise hit an RBI double that scored Diane Cummings. Muise would later come around to score on an RBI single from Lindsay Connor.

Bryant would add insurance runs in the sixth innings.  Muise against started the rally with a single and then stole a second to get into scoring position. She would come around to score on another Connor RBI single. The Bulldogs other run came when Deidre Kittredge hit an RBI single.

Janine Enos got the win for Bryant scattering nine hits, allowing one run, and striking out five. Erin Phanuef took the loss for Le Moyne (21-5, 12-2 NE-10) going six innings, allowing five runs, and striking out two.

In the second, the Bulldogs took a 1-0 lead into the seventh before Le Moyne would would finally get on the board, scoring three runs, thanks in part to a Krisiti Edmunds two run single.

In the bottom of the inning,  Bryant would score two with Kittredge singling in one and Muise scoring on a fielders choice.

The Dolphins would put the game away in the tenth scoring five runs including a two-run triple by Lauren Spaziani and an RBI triple from Sarah Reed.

Reed got the win for Le Moyne in relief going 3 2/3 innings allowing only one hit and striking out four. Nikki Ingalls took the loss for Bryant in relief allowing five runs, on ten hits, and walking one.

Bryant will return to action Wednesday when they travel to UMass Lowell for a doubleheader set for a 3 pm start.
