BULLDOGS TAKE PAIR FROM BENTLEY SATURDAY

SMITHFIELD, RI – The Bryant University picked up a pair of wins over Bentley College this afternoon at the Bryant Softball Complex, winning both by a score of 8-0 to improve to 19-11 overall and 16-2 in the Northeast-10 Conference.
Game one saw Bryant go to work early on the Falcons, scoring three runs in the first including an RBI single from Jordan Dargon (Trumbull, Conn.) and a two run single by Diane Cummings (Westwood, Mass.).
The Bulldogs would add another run in the second and two more in the third before ending the game with the mercy rule in effect. In the sixth Diana Getchell (Cape Elizabeth, ME) started a two out rally with a double followed by an RBI double from Lauren McNiff (Westford, Mass.).
Cummings earned the win for the Bulldogs in the opener, going six innings and allowing just three hits while striking out three. Diane Morrison took the loss for Bentley going 5 2/3 innings, allowing eight runs, on 16 hits, and striking out four.
Game two saw Bryant explode for six runs in the third inning. The inning included singles for
Deidre Kittredge (Worcester, Mass.), a three run double for Cummings, and a RBI triple by
Carly Muise (Hanson, Mass.).
Amanda Wilbur (Lakeville, Mass.) tacked on a solo home run in the fourth.
Jennifer Bernier (Rehoboth, Mass.) got the win for Bryant going five innings, allowing no runs, on three hits, and striking out five.
On the day Cummings went 2-for-6 with six RBIs and Dargon 5-for-7 with two RBIs.
Bryant will return to action tomorrow when the Bulldogs host Le Moyne College at 12:00 pm at the Bryant Softball Complex. Sunday's game will be Senior Day.
