SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant women's bowling team came in at No. 18 in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association poll, announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
This is the highest ranking in program history for the Bulldogs. They're coming off their best season in program history, finishing with a 55-32 overall record. The young program is in their fourth year of existence under the direction of head coach
Morgan Walsh.
The Black and Gold were ranked No. 20 in the December poll for the first time in program history. Then, they came in at No. 24 in the February poll.
Bryant last competed in the Stallings Invitational in Greensboro, North Carolina. They finished with an 8-4 record and won their last four matches, including two ranked wins in baker format over No. 16 Mount St. Mary's (Md.) and No. 20 Duquesne.
The Bulldogs have been led by the senior duo of
Olivia Hillman and
Laura Clark, who have been with the program since its inception in 2022. Hillman, the five-time ECC bowler of the week, leads the team in baker format scoring 20.84 per frame. She also leads the team in strike percentage (50.5%). Clark, the two-time ECC bowler of the week, is scoring 19.28 per frame in baker format this season.
Three-time ECC rookie of the week
Madison Lewis has also been a major contributor this season. Lewis is scoring 18.90 per frame in baker format.
The Bulldogs return this weekend for the ECC Championships, aiming for their first conference championship for program history. The tournament takes place Friday-Sunday (Mar 20-22) in Hackensack, New Jersey at Bowler City Lanes.
