LEXINGTON, VA. --
Ruby Tonelli-Smith and
Megan Beasley took home major awards in leading the Bryant women's swimming and diving team to its first-ever America East Championship.
Bryant closed out the championships with 775 points, outpacing defending champion New Hampshire by 115 points. The conference championship is the sixth in program history and the first as a member of the America East. Bryant won five-straight Northeast Conference titles from 2018-22. The Bulldogs are also the first women's team to win an America East Championship since Bryant joined the conference in 2022-23.
Tonelli-Smith was named the America East Swimmer of the Meet and Beasley earned America East Diver of the Meet honors. Bryant's coaching staff of
Katie Cameron,
Billy Gordon,
Aimee Bourassa,
Mary Ellen Clark and
Lettie Williams was named America East Women's Coaching Staff of the Year. Tonelli-Smith won three individual gold medals (100 fly, 200 fly, 200 IM), while Beasley won gold in the 3 meter and silver in the 1 meter.
In addition,
Aurelie Honsberger was named the Elite 18 Award winner, given to the student-athlete with the highest GPA in the championships. Honsberger owns a 4.0 GPA.
