SMITHFIELD, R.I. -- The opening week of America East play was a successful one for the Bryant women's and men's basketball programs as the Bulldogs won all three games.
The women swept New Hampshire and Maine to start things, while the men defeated Maine in a rematch of last year's America East Championship.
WOMEN OFF TO 2-0 START
- The Bryant women opened America East play 2-0 for the first time in four seasons as league members. It's also Bryant's first 2-0 start since the 2020-21 season.
- Bryant grinded out a 45-31 victory over UNH on Thursday night before defeating Maine 82-73 on Saturday.
HISTORIC NIGHT VS UNH
- Bryant's victory over UNH on Thursday was a historic one as the Black and Gold held UNH to just 31 points, the lowest output by an opponent in DI program history.Â
- The 31 points are also the fewest scored by a team in a league game in America East history.
- Bryant held UNH to 9-of-51 (17.6 percent) shooting from the field and a 1-of-15 (6.7 percent) mark from three. The Wildcats were 0-for-12 from the field in the fourth quarter.
HOT START LIFTS BRYANT PAST MAINE
- Bryant went 11-of-12 (91.7 percent) from the field to build a 26-12 lead after one on Saturday and was able to hold off the Black Bears.
- Maine grabbed a pair of one-point leads in the third quarter and led 53-51 early in the fourth quarter before a 10-2 run gave the Bulldogs a 62-54 lead with 6:20 left.
- Mia Mancini led five players in double figures with 19 points, including 13 in the decisive fourth quarter.
BRYANT MEN BEAT MAINE IN AE TITLE REMATCH
- On the men's side, the Bulldogs built an 11-point lead in the second half but Maine responded with 16-4 run to take a 50-49 lead with 3:28 left.Â
- Ashley Sims II finished a baseline drive to give Bryant a 51-50 lead with 2:58 left, sparking a closing 7-1 run for the Black and Gold.
- Sims finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double, while Quincy Allen added 12 points and 11 rebounds for his first career double-double.

- Week two of America East play brings matchups with UMass Lowell and UAlbany for the Bulldogs.Â
- The men host UMass Lowell on Thursday (Jan. 8) night at 6:00 p.m., while the women tip at 6:00 p.m. in Lowell.
- On Saturday, the women host UAlbany and the men visit the Great Danes, both at 2:00 p.m.
