Bulldogs fall to fifth-seeded UAlbany, 11-6, on Thursday

Box Score ORONO, Maine – Levi McAllister and Jared Toby combined to drive in nine runs as fifth-seeded UAlbany upset the top-seeded Bryant baseball team, 11-6, in game three of the 2025 Northeast Delta Dental America East Baseball Championship on Thursday morning at Mahaney Diamond.
 
The Bulldogs fall to 33-18-1 overall and will return to the diamond Thursday night in an elimination game against the loser of Thursday's second game between No. 2 NJIT and No. 3 Binghamton. UAlbany will face the winner of that game on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the winner's bracket final.
 
McAllister and Toby each hit a two-run home run as the Great Danes erased an early 2-0 deficit. America East All-Rookie selection Aidan Gelbsman held the Black and Gold to four runs on just four hits over 6.0 innings.
 
Gavin Noriega and Pat D'Amico provided the Bryant offense, driving in all six runs. D'Amico homered twice and drove in five.

How it Happened
  • UAlbany opened the game with a double but Belcher responded with back-to-back strikeouts before Cam Papetti caught a foul pop to end the inning.
  • Bryant grabbed the lead in the bottom of the first as D'Amico launched a two-run blast, his fifth of the year vs UAlbany, to left field.
  • The Great Danes took the lead with three runs in the top of the third. Ryan Ferremi brought in the first run with an RBI single to right and Levi McAllister gave UAlbany the lead with a two-run double into the left field corner. The Great Danes would load the bases but Belcher got a ground out to limit the damage.
  • Bryant quickly tied the game as Noriega sent a 3-1 pitch over the right field for his 30th career home run.
  • UAlbany retook the lead in the fifth as McAllister doubled home Filippi who had reached on an error to start the inning. Jared Toby followed with a two-run home run to left center to make it 6-3 and chase Belcher from the game.
  • Bryant would answer with a run as Noriega singled and came around to score on a D'Amico ground out.
  • UAlbany extended its lead to 8-4 as McAllister hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth.
  • The Great Danes pushed their lead to 10-4 on a two-out, two-run single from Toby in the top of the eighth. UAlbany made it 11-4 with a run in the top of the ninth.
  • D'Amico hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to account for the final score.

The Bulldogs lost in the first game of the 2013 NEC Tournament before rallying to win the tournament. Bryant lost the first game in 2015 before rallying back to lose game seven and went 0-2 in the 2017 tournament.
  • Wyers extended his on-base streak to 33 games with a first-inning walk.
  • D'Amato has reached safely in 28-straight games after walking twice.
  • Zyons extended his on-base streak to 27 games with a single.
  • Noriega's home run was his ninth of the year and the 30th of his Bryant career. It moves him past Tony Garganese and into sole possession of first place on the all-time home run list at Bryant.
