Zac Zyons hit a pair of home runs as the Bryant baseball team clinched its second-straight America East Regular Season Championship with a 9-4 victory over NJIT on Sunday afternoon at Conaty Park.
The Bulldogs improve to 29-17-1 overall and 15-6 in America East play with their 18
th win in the last 21 games. Bryant claimed it second-straight regular season title and will serve as the No. 1 seed in the six-team America East Baseball Championships that will be held at the University of Maine from May 21-24.
Bryant has now won 12 regular season titles in 16 seasons (excluding 2020) as a DI program.
Zyons finished 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and three runs scored, while fellow Rhode Island native
Jacob Gaudreau posted three hits, drove in a run and scored twice.
Drew Wyers also homered and finished with two RBI.
Luke Delongchamp and
Jackson Vanesko each tossed 4.0 innings and allowed one run to stymie the Highlanders.

How it Happened
- NJIT took a 1-0 lead in the first as Ray Ortiz walked, moved to third on a double and scored on a ground out to short.
- Bryant rallied to take the lead as it scored four times in the third and three times in the fourth. In the third, Gaudreau hit a high fly ball that landed between the short stop, left fielder and center fielder for a single. After a walk to Zyons, Noriega's ground ball to first was fielded but Campbell slipped and everyone was safe. Wyers (BB) and D'Amico (HBP) then reached to bring home the first two runs. Eddie Werse entered and retired the next two batters before throwing a wild pitch that resulted in two runs as the catcher couldn't find the ball.
- In the fourth, Gaudreau singled with one out and Zyons worked a full count before hammering a two-run home run to right center to make it 6-1. Two batters later, Wyers hit a 2-1 pitch just inside the right field foul pole for a solo home run and a 7-1 lead.
- NJIT pushed across a run in the top of the sixth as Mason Wolf tripled and scored on a sac fly.
- Bryant answered back as Zyons roped his second home run of the game to make it 8-2.
- The Black and Gold made it 9-2 in the seventh as Durand walked, went to second on a wild pitch and scored on a two-out single to right from Gaudreau.
