Bulldogs pick up five medals on Day 2 of AE Indoor Championships; Women finish second overall

BOSTON.- The Bryant University track and field team took home five medals including two golds at the final day of the America East Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday at Boston University. The women's track and field team finished in second place after finishing with 141.5 total points.

Chloe Whiting picked up the first gold medal of the day for the Bulldogs after winning the women's 3,000m with a time of 9:28.56. Whiting would be honored following the meet as the women's Most Outstanding Track Performer and also claimed the Coaches' Award after victories in the 5K (16:17.69) and 3K (9:28.56) as well as a strong performance in the 1-mile competition (4:57.04). She finished with 25 total points during the championship.

The final gold medal of the indoor season came via the women's 4x800m relay. Kayla Ondy, Emma Grzybinski, Kelley MacElhiney, and  Shelby Degrenier put on a phenomenal performance that saw them break the school record by over 20 seconds to claim the gold in Boston. The win also marked the first win for Bryant in the 4x800 at the America East Indoors.

Director of Cross Country/Track and Field Mitchell Switzer and his staff took home the final award of the afternoon, being named Women's Coaching Staff of the Year.Switzer was joined by assistants Maggie Fox, Shay Austin-Leary, Evan Woicik, and Alex Whatley to accept the award on Sunday.

  • Bryant had two golds and three silvers on Day 2 of competition.
  • The Bulldogs ended the weekend with 13 total medals including seven golds, four silvers, and two bronze.
