Bryant wins eight medals on Day 1 of AE Track and Field Indoor Championships

BOSTON.- The Bryant University track and field team took home eight medals including five golds on Day 1 of the America East Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Boston University. The women's team finished the day with 69.50 points and leads the field heading into Day 2.

The women's team made history in their final event of the night as Emma Grzybinski, Savannah Pineda, Kelley MacElhiney, and Shelby DeGrenier won the Women's Distance Medley Relay with a time of 11:45.74. It is the first time Bryant has won the event since joining the America East Conference.

The Bulldogs also had an incredible showing in the women's 5,000m with three runners finishing inside the top five. Chloe Whiting won the gold with a time of 16:17.69. Jasmine Trott would be right behind her, taking home the silver with a time of 16:25.58. Casey Curran finished the race in fifth place with a time of 17:16.17.

The women also had strong performances on the field side as Iyana Braswell and Dasani Stewart both made the podium in the women's long jump Braswell claimed the gold and broke the school record after jumping 5.88m.Braswell well surpasses Jasmine Hope's mark of 5.74m set back in 2024. Stewart picked up the bronze after finishing with a mark of 5.76m. Ashley Brule medaled in the women's pole vault. She picked up the bronze after clearing a height of 3.55m. Allyson Humphries finished fifth in the pole vault; clearing 3.55m on her second attempt.

Maggie Fodera shined in the women's pentathlon on Saturday. She would win the gold after posting 3,415 points on the day. Fodera resets her previous school record of 3,236 from 2024.

Kalen Knott was the lone member of the men's team to pick up a medal on Day 1 of competition. He would shatter his previous school record in the men's pole vault after clearing 4.88m on Saturday. That mark passed his previous height of 4.80m set back on Feb. 9.
