SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University swimming & diving team celebrated their success in the 2023-24 season at their end of season banquet earlier this month (Apr. 21st). Katie Cameron and her coaching staff recognized 14 different Bulldogs for their team contributions this past season.
Bulldog of the Year
The Bulldog of the Year is given out by the athletic department, and is the highest honor in the program. It is given to the male and female athletes who have displayed all-around excellence: high GPA, a team leader, an active participant in community and recruiting events, and great success in the pool.
Recipients: Natalia Kuipers and Christopher Buonocore
High Point Award
This award is given to the individuals who scored the most points across all meets during the season.
Recipients: Julia Stenhard and Griffin Lajoie
Most Improved Swimmer
This award is given to the individuals who showed the most improvement over the course of the season. These athletes have shown great time/score improvements as well as personal growth in the sport.
Recipients: Makayla Pearce and John Ossi
Most Improved Diver
This award is given to the individuals who showed the most improvement over the course of the season. These athletes have shown great time/score improvements as well as personal growth in the sport.
Recipients: Sydney Barnett and Nathan Sideris
Rookie of the Year
This is awarded to two freshmen who had big impacts on the team. These athletes responded well to the transition into college swimming and demonstrated their ability to contribute to the team in all aspects.
Recipients: Megan Beasley and James Misto
Teammate of the Year
This award is given to the best teammates as voted on by their peers.
Recipients: Hannah King and Colton Litwinczyk
Nicole Salzano Perseverance Award
This award is given only when the coaches feel there is a deserving winner. It is given to a female athlete who has faced adversity and was courageous and strong in overcoming it.
Recipient: Sarah Falder
Kelly Hill Award
This award is not given out every year. The recipient must be a senior and have made a strong impact on the team. They are an unsung hero who has not always been acknowledged for their work in the pool but demonstrates constant dedication to the program. They never miss a workout, lap, stroke, or dive, and always show up with a great attitude.
Recipient: Jillian Stevens
The seniors were also recognized at the banquet for their dedication to the Bulldog program during their time at Bryant. Those seniors include Madeline Condon, Rose Cunningham, Faith Gambardella, Natalia Kuipers, Jillian Stevens, Charles Keen, Chase Konstantakos, Brandon Naylor, Gustav Persson, and Reese Stevenson.
