Three homers power Bryant to weekend sweep of UMBC

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Gavin Greger, Matt Smith and Zac Zyons all homered as the Bryant baseball team defeated UMBC 6-2 in game two of Saturday's doubleheader to complete a weekend sweep at Conaty Park.

The Bulldogs improve to 15-10 overall and 5-1 in the America East with the victory. Bryant won the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, 9-8, and hit seven home runs in the two games.

The wind was blowing out to right at Conaty Park on Saturday but Greger, Smith and Zyons didn't need it as the trio all hit two-run home runs. Greger's tied the game in the fourth, Smith's gave Bryant the lead in the sixth and Zyons's added insurance in the eighth.

Tyler Horvat spun another brilliant outing, allowing two runs on six hits over 7.0 innings. He walked one and struck out six. Jared Burrows tossed 2.0 scoreless to earn the save.
