SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Siena College junior midfielder Allie
Kain (Williston Park, NY) scored four second half goals, including
the eventual game-winner, as the visiting Saints rallied from a 7-6
halftime deficit to earn an 18-11 win over host Bryant University
in women's lacrosse action Sunday afternoon at the Bryant Turf
Field Complex.
Bryant (0-3) played its best first half of the season, using a
quick start to lead the entire first half of play.
Eliza Demarseilles (Branford, CT) got the Bulldogs
started with an unassisted goal just 45 seconds into the contest as
the junior beat Saints freshman goalie Kristin Concordia (Webster,
NY) for her first goal of the season.
Freshman standout Lauren Sheridan (Bethpage,
NY) made it 2-0 six minutes later before Courtney
Highsmith (Crofton, MD) got the visitors on the board with a free
position goal at 22:13.
Bryant led 7-4 before Siena scored twice just before the half to
go into the locker room at the break down only a goal.
The Saints, playing for the first time this season, scored twice
right out of the gate to start the second half as Lindsey Rosecrans
(Niskayuna, NY) scored one of her four tallies on the day to tie
the game at 7-7 just eight seconds into the second. Kain
would put the visitors up 8-7 moments later. After Bryant
knotted the score at 8-8 on a goal by Lauren Albert (South
Windsor, CT), four-straight Siena goals - two by Kain -
put the game away.
Siena out-shot Bryant 46 to 27 in the game and won the majority
of the draw controls, 17 to 13. Sheridan led the Bulldogs with four
goals on the day while Delia Glover (Marston Mills,
MA) and freshman Mary Green (Merrick, NY)
each had two.
Bryant will travel to Wagner College this Friday for a 4 pm
game. The Bulldogs will be on the road for five-straight
before returning back home April 1 hosting Central Connecticut at 7
pm.
