FORMER BRYANT ASST. FOOTBALL
COACH NAMED DEFENSIVE BACKS COACH FOR THE NEW ENGLAND
PATRIOTS
The former Bryant University Assistant Football Coach Josh Boyer
has been recently named the new defensive backs coach for the New
England Patriots.
Boyer, who will enter his fourth season overall with the
Patriots, previously served as a defensive coaching assistant after
six years in the collegiate coaching ranks. He joined the
Patriots organization in 2006.
A 2000 Magna Cum Laude gradaute of Muskingum College
(Ohio), Boyer was an All-Ohio Athletic Conference player as
a defensive back and was a two-time Academic
All-Conference selection. While at Muskingum, he was a member
of four national honoraries: Omicron Delta Kappa (Junior /
Senior Leadership); Order of Omega (Greek
honorary); Phi Theta Beta (Education Leadership
Honorary); and Beta Beta Beta (Biology Honorary).
A native of Heath, Ohio, Boyer began his coaching career in 2000
as an assistant coach at King's College (PA) before moving on to
the University of Dayton in 2001 and spending two years at Kent
State (2002-03) before joining Marty Fine's staff at Bryant in
2004.
While coaching the defensive backs at Bryant in 2004, the
Bulldogs racked up 14 interceptions limited opponents to just 10.4
yards per catch. He left Bryant in 2005 to become the
defensive coordinator at the South Dakota School of Mines before
returning to New England.
