FORMER BRYANT ASST. FOOTBALL COACH NAMED DEFENSIVE BACKS COACH FOR THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

The former Bryant University Assistant Football Coach Josh Boyer has been recently named the new defensive backs coach for the New England Patriots.

Boyer, who will enter his fourth season overall with the Patriots, previously served as a defensive coaching assistant after six years in the collegiate coaching ranks.  He joined the Patriots organization in 2006.

A 2000 Magna Cum Laude gradaute of Muskingum College (Ohio), Boyer was an All-Ohio Athletic Conference player as a defensive back and was a two-time Academic All-Conference selection. While at Muskingum, he was a member of four national honoraries:  Omicron Delta Kappa (Junior / Senior Leadership); Order of Omega (Greek honorary); Phi Theta Beta (Education Leadership Honorary); and Beta Beta Beta (Biology Honorary).

A native of Heath, Ohio, Boyer began his coaching career in 2000 as an assistant coach at King's College (PA) before moving on to the University of Dayton in 2001 and spending two years at Kent State (2002-03) before joining Marty Fine's staff at Bryant in 2004.

While coaching the defensive backs at Bryant in 2004, the Bulldogs racked up 14 interceptions limited opponents to just 10.4 yards per catch.  He left Bryant in 2005 to become the defensive coordinator at the South Dakota School of Mines before returning to New England.
