BRYANT'S DOMINANT FOURTH QUARTER EARNS A ROAD VICTORY AGAINST STONEHILL

NORTH EASTON, MASS. – The Bryant football team defeated Stonehill, 24-6, in its season opener on the road Saturday night. The Bulldogs dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring the Skyhawks 17-3 to put the game away.

With the win, the Bulldogs have won each of their last nine games against the Skyhawks. The victory is also the first for Bryant in a season opener since 2018. Bryant will travel to Army next Saturday for a nationally televised game on CBS Sports Network. Kickoff is set for 12:00 p.m.

OJ Ross dazzled in his Bulldog debut, tallying 102 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. The Black and Gold also got rushing touchdowns from Jordan Bennett and Brennan Myer.

Gideon Bedada had a strip sack, and fellow defensive lineman Toby Brown Jr. also recorded a sack. Omaris McMiller Jr. blocked a punt for the first time in his career.

How it Happened
  • At the six-minute mark of the first quarter, Gideon Bedada beat the tackle and got the strip sack, which was recovered by the Bulldogs.
  • Bryant used the momentum to execute an eleven-play drive that was capped off by a 10-yard OJ Ross touchdown up the middle (7-0) with one minute remaining in the first quarter. Ross was the horse of the drive, rushing it seven times for 57 yards and the score.
  • Stonehill responded with an eight-play drive that the Bulldogs' defense stopped in the red zone, leading to a field goal (7-3) with 10:11 left in the second quarter.
  • Omaris McMiller Jr. blocked a punt with 1:24 left, putting the Bulldogs at the Stonehill ten-yard line. The Black and Gold would suffer a sack on the ensuing drive, leaving a 42-yard field goal for Nicholas Stoyanovich, which hit the post to end the half (7-3).
  • After both defenses stood tall, the Black and Gold executed an eleven-play drive that saw Sean Wilson Jr. catch a ball on the goal line, setting up Jordan Bennett who punched it in for the score at the 14:14 mark in the fourth quarter (14-3).
  • The Bryant defense forced a three-and-out, and the offense took over near midfield. Brennan Myer would lead a seven-play drive, finishing with a one-yard rushing touchdown to give Bryant a 21-3 lead with eight minutes remaining in the final quarter.
  • The Skyhawks scored their final points of the game off a 36-yard field goal at the 2:41 mark in the fourth quarter (21-6).
  • Stoyanovich nailed a 27-yard field goal with less than two minutes in the game, giving Bryant a 24-6 lead.
