SWIM TEAMS FALL TO STONY BROOK AS
POOL RECORDS GO DOWN AT THE CHACE CENTER
SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Bryant University men's and women's swim
teams both fell to Stony Brook Saturday afternoon at the Chace
Center in their final home meet of the season. The Seawolves beat
the men by a score of 141-109, while the women were knocked off by
a final of 143-97.
Senior Tom Ferrigno (West Chester, Pa. / Malvern
Prep) went out in style on the men's side in his final
home meet at the Chace Center, shattering a pool record in the 200
yard butterfly with a time of 1:55.97, while also winning the 200
backstroke and finishing second in the 500 freestyle.
Sophomore Steve Nguyen (San Jose, Calif. /
Lynbrook) also won two events while finishing second in
another, coming in first with times of 1:49.30 in the 200 freestyle
and 2:04.46 in the 200 individual medley, while touching the wall
in 54.79 in the 100 yard fly to finish second.
On the women's side, Jackie Pajor (Glastonbury, Conn. /
Glastonbury), Jess Looney (Goffstown, N.H. /
Goffstown) and Allison Schaab (Boothwyn, Pa. /
Garnet Valley) each took home victories. Pajor won the 500
freestyle with a time of 5:53.77, while Looney won the 200
individual medley and Schaab took down the 100 yard butterfly.
The women's team will be back in the pool at the University of
Vermont next Saturday (2 p.m.), while the men will be back in
action Tuesday, February 3 when they travel to Holy Cross (4 p.m.).
