Baseball Picks Up Pair of Wins Over Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. - Tied 2-2 heading into extra innings, the
Bryant University baseball team exploded for five runs in the top
of the 11th to pull out an 11-2 win over Bentley in the first game
of a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader Saturday.
In the 11th, Chris Brown opened the inning with
a single to left while teammate Mike Rocco
followed with an infield single. Brown moved over to third on
an errant throw by the Falcon shortstop Steve Gath trying
get Rocco at first. Nick Tucarella would
follow with a double to right to plate Brown with the go-ahead
run. Rocco would eventually come around to score on a
sacrifice bunt while Brian Cleary would knock in
two more runs iwth a double to left.
In the second game, the Bulldogs took a 4-2 lead into the top of
the ninth and scored four times to complete the doubleheader sweep
with an 8-2 win. Brown had the big hit in the inning as the
senior drove in three runs with a double for the Bulldogs.
Brown had a pair of hits in the game while Daryle
Crowley and Pat McKenna also had two hits
respectively. Crowley doubled and tripled for the Bulldogs while
Eric Loh pitched eight strong innings to earn the win.
Bryant will host Caldwell (11:30 am) and Bentley on Sunday at
the Bryant Baseball Complex.
