SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant field hockey team fell to Providence, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Cowen Field.
With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 2-2 on the season. Bryant is back at Cowen Field on Friday, September 11, hosting Stonehill.
Sunday's game was scoreless for the first 40 minutes before the Friars finally broke through. Providence would add a pair in fourth quarter to close it out.

First Quarter
- Bryant controlled the opening five minutes before the Friars tilted the field in their advantage.

- The Friars broke through 10 minutes into the third quarter. A pass across the top of the circle bounced to Darcy Quaile and she was able to send the ball back across to Lily Procaccianti who slotted it home.
Fourth Quarter
- Johanna Mahner made it 2-0 as she knocked home a loose ball on a penalty corner.
- Rhylee Givens closed the scoring as she potted one into an empty cage with less than a minute to play.

- Bryant is now 0-9 all-time against Providence.
- Valentina Funes made two defensive saves for the Bulldogs.
- Sara DeSousa posted four saves in her first start of the season.
