MEN'S LACROSSE ADDS SHAWN EWERT TO COACHING STAFF

SMITHFIELD, R.I. - Bryant men's lacrosse head coach Brad Ross announced the addition of Shawn Ewert to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Ewert comes to Smithfield after spending the last three seasons at Providence College. He will serve as the offensive coordinator for the Black and Gold.

"After a thorough and extensive national search, we are excited to welcome Shawn to Bryant," Ross said. "Throughout the process, Shawn separated himself with his ability to teach the game, think critically, and communicate at a high level. He brings a unique offensive perspective, strong organizational skills, and a proven willingness to invest in player relationships. What stood out most was his willingness to present new ideas, think independently, and his desire to help shape a program. We are thrilled to add someone with Shawn's character, intelligence, and work ethic to our staff."

At Providence College, Ewert worked with the offense, helping Providence produce three 30-goal scorers and two 40-goal scorers under his tutelage.

Before arriving at Providence, Ewert spent two seasons at Florida Southern, where he served as assistant coach and offensive coordinator. During his tenure, he helped guide Florida Southern to a 25-11 record and two Sunshine State Conference Championship game appearances.

Prior to joining the staff at Florida Southern, he served as an assistant coach at Bucknell University for two seasons (2020-21) and as a graduate assistant for Jacksonville University in 2019.

"I am incredibly grateful to Coach Ross for the opportunity to join the Bryant University men's lacrosse program and contribute to a tradition of excellence," Ewert said. "Bryant's commitment to student-athlete development, competitive success, and a championship culture made this an exciting opportunity for my family and me. I am eager to get to work with these student-athletes, build meaningful relationships, and help position Bryant Lacrosse for continued success. The future is bright, and I am honored to be a part of it."

Ewert was a standout lacrosse player at Jacksonville. He finished his career ranked in the program's top five in career games started, career points, and career assists. Additionally, he was named the team's 2016 Offensive MVP after setting the program's single-season assist record, with 23.

Ewert earned his bachelor's degree in sports business, with a minor in coaching, from Jacksonville in 2018. He went on to earn a master's degree in sports management and business administration in 2019.

Ewert was born and raised in Dublin Ohio, and now resides in Providence.
