Key Moment
- The Huskies took the lead on a wild pitch that got just far enough away for the runner to slide in safely.
How it Happened
- UConn had first opportunity of the game on Tuesday as Jackson Marshall doubled to leadoff the second. He moved to third on a ground out but Cole Schiff was able to strand him there. Schiff got a fly ball to right for the second out, walked a batter and then picked up his second punchout to end the inning.
- Bryant responded with its first run of the game in the bottom half. Greger, Papetti and Hackett all singled to load the bases and Wensley was hit by a 1-1 pitch to bring in the first run.
- UConn tied the game up in the third on a seeing-eye single up the middle with two outs.
- Bryant pitched itself out of trouble in the fourth and fifth. Gaudreau raced behind home to catch a pop up and then fired back to first to double off the runner. In the fifth, the Huskies put runners on second and third with one out but Mulholland induced pop ups from the 2-3 hitters to get out of trouble.
- The Black and Gold grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Garcia singled to center and Kingsbury moved him to third with a single through the right side. Saul then laid down a perfect safety squeeze to make it 2-1. The Bulldogs, however, stranded runners on second and third.
- UConn grabbed its first lead of the day with a pair of runs on just one hit in the sixth. After a leadoff single, two walks loaded the bases with one out to setup a sac fly to right. The second run then scored on a wild pitch. There was a play at the plate but the foot of the runner just beat the tag, giving the Huskies the lead.
- The Huskies added three insurance runs in the top of the ninth to account for the final score.
