How it Happened
- UMass Lowell broke an early deadlock with a run in the third. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases with one out and Carlos Martinez brought in a run with a sac fly. Davis escaped further damage as he induced a fly ball to right on a 3-2 pitch.
- The River Hawks would leave seven men on base through the first four innings.
- Jacob Jette limited the Bulldogs to just two singles and faced one batter over the minimum through the first four innings before issuing a leadoff walk in the fifth. Jette retired the next two batters before a two-out walk extended the inning. Dylan Prince then hit a hard ground ball to short that took a bad hop off the infield dirt. Zach Scott corralled the ball but threw it wide of first, allowing Saul to score. Wensley followed by lining a 2-2 pitch into right field for a two-out, two-run single (3-1).
- UML responded in the bottom of the fifth as Cal Chance doubled to start the inning, moved to third on a ground out and scored on a sac fly.
- Bryant maintained its lead thanks to a pair of scoreless innings from Lewis. In the seventh, Martinez singled and stole second with two outs but Wensley made a great play on a Scott Donahue ground ball to end the rally.
- The Black and Gold then tacked on two key insurance runs in the top of the eighth. Carlos Irizarry singled and Ellis Garcia walked to setup a sac bunt from Hunter Kingsbury. Saul then greeted reliever Brian Foley with a two-run double to left center on a 1-2 pitch to make it 5-2.
- UML tried to rally in the bottom of the eighth as Rowan Masse doubled in a run with one out. Zaslaw buckled down and got a fly out and a ground out to end the inning.
- Zaslaw retired the River Hawks in order in the ninth, striking out the final two batters.
