BOSTON -- Bryant women's lacrosse juniors Gabrielle Constant and
Kaelynn O'Brien were named the America East Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, on Monday afternoon.
The duo helped the Bulldogs improve to 2-0 in league play with a 16-10 victory over UMass Lowell on Saturday.Â
Constant earns her first weekly honor of the season after setting career highs in goals (8) and points (9) in Saturday's win. She recorded her sixth hat trick of the season just a minute into the second quarter and then potted the first two goals of the second half to spark a run that put Bryant ahead for good. Constant has now recorded six or more goals on three occassions and her 43 goals this season are one shy of her career high set last year.Â
O'Brien earns the league's defensive player of the week honor for the fifth time this season after posting four ground balls, three caused turnovers and five draw controls against the River Hawks. The Lynbrook, N.Y., native has multiple caused turnovers in each of her last four games and ranks sixth nationally in the category. O'Brien also moved into first place in DI program history with 112 caused turnovers in her career.Â
Bryant returns to the field on Wednesday as it travels to Amherst, Mass., to take on UMass. First draw is set for 3:00 p.m.
