BRYANT HITS THREE HOMERS, BULLPEN SHINES IN WIN OVER RHODE ISLAND

KINGSTON, R.I. – The Bryant baseball team hit three solo home runs and seven pitchers combined to strikeout 12 as the Bulldogs earned a 4-2 victory over in-state rival Rhode Island on Wednesday afternoon at Bill Beck Field.
 
With the win, the Bulldogs have won eight-straight games and improve to 14-8 overall. Bryant returns to America East play this weekend as it hosts NJIT at Conaty Park.
 
Justin Hackett, Hunter Kingsbury and Carlos Irizarry all hit solo home runs to help Bryant build a 4-1 lead.
 
Bryant used a season-high seven pitchers to limit the Rams to two runs on seven hits and strikeout 12. Thomas Maher earned his first collegiate win in his collegiate debut, while Zach Davis posted his first collegiate save.

  • Billy Mulholland worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the sixth to keep the Bulldogs ahead 2-1.

  • URI took the lead on a solo home run from Jack Hopko in the second inning.
  • Hackett tied the game as he lifted a 1-2 pitch over the wall in right center in the fourth.
  • Kingsbury made it 2-1 in the fifth, launching a 3-2 pitch deep to right field for his second home run of the year.
