WENSLEY, SAUL LIFT BRYANT TO SERIES WIN AT DAVIDSON

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Casey Wensley collected four hits and three RBI and Charlie Saul's seventh-inning double proved to the difference as the Bryant baseball team earned a season-opening series victory with an 8-5 win over Davidson in game two of Saturday's doubleheader at Wilson Field.

The win gives Bryant a series victory over an A-10 school for just the fourth time in DI program history. Bryant returns to the diamond next weekend with a three-game series at No. 19 Clemson.

Saturday's finale played out just as the first two games of the series had. Bryant scored in the each of the final innings for the third-straight game and had to hold off a Davidson rally for the third time. After taking a 10-6 lead in the top of the eighth only to fall in game one on Saturday, Bryant scored three in the top of the seventh to defeat the Wildcats.

Wensley and Hunter Kingsbury combined to score seven of Bryant's eight runs, while Saul's seventh-inning double plated Mike Fiatarone with what proved to be the game-winning run. Wensley finished 4-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and three runs scored, while Kingsbury doubled and scored three runs.

Three Bryant pitchers combined to strikeout eight and allow just one walk in the victory. Ty Davis earned the win, allowing two runs over 2.0 innings of relief.
