How it Happened

- Clemson responded with three runs in the bottom of the second. Gaffney tied the game with a solo home run and Jarrell hit a two-run home run to make it 3-1.
- Bryant's pitching staff helped keep the game close as Sean Zaslaw and Landon White combined for 5.1 scoreless innings. Zaslaw stranded the bases loaded in the third, while White worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth and ended his three-inning outing with a 6-3 double play in the seventh.
- In the top of the seventh, Saul laced the first pitch of the inning to left for a leadoff double. Kingsbury followed with a ground ball that got by the third baseman to put runners on the corners. Casey Wensley's ground ball to second scored Saul and moved Kingsbury into scoring position. Kingsbury then stole third and with two outs, took off for home and scored ahead of the tag, tying the game at 3-3.
- Clemson broke the tie with six runs in the bottom of the eighth. Three-straight singles loaded the bases before a walk brought in the eventual winning run. After a strikeout, a two-run single made it 6-3. A bases loaded walk, sac fly and single closed the scoring.
