MEN’S TENNIS WELCOMES FORMER PLAYER DIEGO TREJO TO COACHING STAFF

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Bryant men's tennis team introduces new assistant coach Diego Trejo to their coaching staff for the 2025-26 season.

Trejo has deep connections with Bryant, serving as a standout 4-year player from 2020-2024. During his sophomore season (2021-22), he earned All-NEC First Team honors in doubles, posting an 11-12 record in doubles and going 5-2 against the NEC. He also went 2-1 at No. 1 doubles in the NEC Tournament that season. Overall, he went 27-32 in doubles play and 13-21 in singles play during his career at Bryant.

He also excelled in the classroom, being named to the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll during his freshman season (2020-21). As a sophomore, he was named to the NEC Academic Honor Roll and was selected as an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Trejo was recruited by Ron Gendron as a player and cites him as a key reason he's returning to coach the team, "He made me a disciplined person and a player. To be able to learn from him and his coaching style is a great opportunity."

Gendron is pleased to not only return to Bryant himself, but also bring back Trejo as an assistant coach:

"I am extremely excited and optimistic to be back at Bryant and I'm equally optimistic about bringing back Diego as a coach. He was a high energy player with a great attitude and work ethic. We're looking forward to the Big South Conference and where we can direct our program. Vamos perros."

Trejo is focused on turning Bryant into a competitive team this season, "We have all the talent in the world. We want to build a team that's ready to win a championship." He's excited to see how the team will grow and wants to build character within the program.
