CHARLOTTE, N.C. –
Miguel Angel Machado and
Daniel Baquero both earned All-Conference honors, announced by the Big South on Wednesday afternoon.
Machado is a First Team All-Conference singles selection for the first time in his career. This spring, he went 12-6 in dual matches at No. 1 singles.
He made an impressive run to the Big South Singles Championship back in October, going 3-0 in the singles main draw against Longwood, Gardner-Webb, and UNC Asheville.
Baquero and Machado were named to the First Team All-Conference Doubles Team for the first time in their careers. The duo went 7-6 in dual matches at No. 1 doubles this spring. In their last 10 matches to close out the season, they went 7-3.
They made an incredible run to the ITA semifinals back in October, beating the No. 1 seed in the region Yale and the No. 8 seed in the region Dartmouth. They also represented Bryant at the ITA sectionals in November, earning a win over Virginia Tech. They were ranked as high as No. 20 in the ITA doubles national rankings in February, the highest ranking in program history.
Machado was also named to the All-Academic Team for the first time in his career.
The Bulldogs face Longwood in the First Round of the Big South Championship tomorrow at 2:00 PM in Lexington, SC.
