BOSTON -- Bryant field hockey junior
Claire Joss and freshman
Elyse Bouchard were named America East Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, on Wednesday.
The duo helped the Bulldogs earn victories over New Haven and Stonehill on Opening Weekend marking just the third time in program history Bryant has started 2-0.
Joss anchored a defensive unit that produced back-to-back shutouts to open a season for the first time in program history. The Bulldogs were able to successfully defend eight penalty corners without allowing a shot on goal over the two games. Joss played 100 of a possible 105 minutes and also contributed her first collegiate goal on Sunday.
Bouchard opened her collegiate career with a bang, recording three points (1g, 1a) in the season opener vs New Haven.
Bryant wraps up its season-opening four-game homestand this weekend as it hosts Dartmouth (Friday, 3:00 PM) and Hofstra (Sunday, 12:00 PM) at Cowen Field.
