Bryant Rowing Makes Program History at Dad Vail Regatta

Pennsauken, NJ – The Bryant University women's rowing team made program history this weekend at the Dad Vail Regatta, highlighted by a third-place finish in the Grand Final by the Second Varsity 4+ (2V4+). This marks the program's first-ever Grand Final qualification and podium finish in the 2V4+ event.

The Varsity 8+ also capped off a competitive weekend with a strong showing, placing third in the Petite Final after battling through the time trials and semifinals.

From Head Coach Stephanie Ricker:
"The 2V4+ struggled a bit in the time trials, finishing 7th of 9, with three of the athletes never experiencing that style of racing before—being brand new to the sport—but rallied through semis to finish 3rd in the Grand Final.

It's great to see the athletes race hard and leave their all on the water. We continue to grow and celebrate the milestone accomplishments of the team, remembering that the results aren't the only wins they experience. For a small team of mostly walk-on athletes, the V8+ raced hard and continued to show their drive and tenacity. They are growing as athletes, and we will continue to build on the foundation they are working hard to solidify.

We came up against some teams with a lot of depth and experience, and I'm most proud that we didn't back down and raced hard the entire weekend regardless of the factors that were out of their control."

The Bulldogs now return home with a historic finish in the 2V4+ at the Dad Vail Regatta.
