VESTAL, N.Y. – The fourth-seeded Bryant University softball team defeated third-seeded UAlbany 7-5 in an elimination game to advance to the semifinal game against No. 2 seed UMBC for a spot in the AE Championship.
Meaghan Houk hit her third home run of the tournament, and
Maddy Wachter pitched five innings of relief, holding the Great Danes to two runs and striking out three.
Bryant will now face UMBC on Saturday afternoon for a spot in Sunday's America East Championship. Top-seeded Binghamton advanced to the championship round with a 3-0 win over UMBC on Saturday morning.

How it Happened
- In the bottom of the first, UAlbany scored two runs on RBI-singles (2-0).
- The Great Danes scored a third run on an RBI single in the bottom of the second (3-0).
- Laniya Lewis and Makkena Coleman drew walks to begin the top of the third. Followed by a Sam Rohwer RBI-double to left field (3-1). The Bulldogs then scored a run on a bases loaded walk drawn by Bryce Clendenin (3-2). Hannah Cochran then brought home two on a single up the middle (4-3) to give Bryant the lead. The Black and Gold then scored a fifth run on an error (5-3).
- The Great Danes responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning off a single and a sac-fly (5-5).
- In the top of the fourth, Coleman knocked a double (her fifth of the tournament), and she then scored on a wild pitch (6-5). Houk then hit a solo home run (her third of the tournament) to deep center field (7-5).
